A lettering guide is a type of ruler used to draw uniform characters. Usually, it takes the shape of a shablone made of plastic or paper, with cutouts of various shapes, including letters, numbers, lines, and curves. Lettering guides are a tool to ensure a quick, consistent visual in lettering.

Lettering Guide

on-going participatory workshop series

developed together with Kristí Fekete

Each participants bring their own miscellaneous item (be it, an apple, a key, a water bottle) and use it as a visual base for the lettering guide. Through hands-on experimentation, they translate their own narratives and visual vocabularies into drawing tools.

Through each iteration, the series has evolved from creating individual tools and their specimens, to bringing these tools together through collective making and public participation, and towards developing shared tools and a visual language within a temporary community.
